Yet again, the weekend has drawn to an end way too quickly! Fortunately, I have an exciting post in store today to cheer myself up (and hopefully you too!) As I've mentioned over the last few days, my Nicki Minaj polishes arrived in the mail early this week and I've finally had a little (emphasis on "little") more time than I did during the week to swatch them...so here we go!
OPI Nicki Minaj Collection 2012
A bright/neon lime green creme. I couldn't stop looking at this colour after I put it on. Normally I wouldn't wear crazy colours like this but I fell in love with it when I was swatching and it came out so beautifully glossy in the photos!
A bright, turquoise(ish) blue teal -by far my favourite of all! The photos don't really do this colour justice but it just awesome on!! This is the whole reason I bought this collection in the first place. I was on-line trying to buy this on its own and stumbled across a really good deal for the entire collection :P lucky me!
A light, pastely/rose pink creme. This reminds me of bubblegum! Again, the photos don't do it justice. Nothing too new but it is a really cute colour!
A clear-based fine silver glitter with blue and holographic glitter strips. So awesome!! I've done 3 coats here but I think I could've gone even further and done another. As you can see it's still not very opaque at all with 3. This would be great over other colours, especially blues or maybe even black! I might try it over fly later on.
Metallic 4 Life
This has a thin black-base with large black and silver glitter of all different sizes and shapes. If I'm going to be totally honest, this was a nightmare to apply and swatch - so thick and gooey and the light kept catching the glitter and reflecting off it, making the photos turn out really unclear. I think I would only really wear this as a top coat over black or another really dark colour. My least favourite OPI glitter so far but to be fair I really like the large hexagonal glitter.
Super Bass Shatter
Over 'Pink Friday':
Over 'Did It On 'Em':
A deep magenta purple shatter with a slight shimmer in it. Very cool! I think it would look great over white or black so I'll have to try that some time. As you can see it shattered quite well but as with all other shatters, you have to remember to apply really thinly with slow, steady strokes from the base to the tip of the nail.
I can honestly say this collection is awesome. Apart from Metallic 4 Life I really love all of these polishes. A great combination of neon cremes glitters and paired well by the purple shatter! I guess this outfit is where she got the inspiration for most of the colours:
and a close up....
I only wish she did a blue like the colours of her shoes instead of Metallic 4 Life (sorry, I'll stop whining about it now!) From photos I've seen of her, Nicki Minaj seems to wear a lot of these sorts of bright colours and her jewellery in the photo below really reminds me of Save Me - perhaps this is where the inspiration for this colour came from.
Around this time last year OPI released its Katy Perry Collection so perhaps celebrity collections will become a bit of a tradition from now on (my fingers are crossed Gaga!!). Overall another great collection from OPI - I hope you had as much fun reading and looking at the swatches as I have preparing this for you!
All the best for a great week ahead. Much love and I'll see you tomorrow :)
