TGIF!!

Happy Friday everyone!! After a long week back at uni (yes that's right I'm back already, invitation to feel sorry for me right about now!) I am SO relieved that it's the weekend. Time for a little swatching I think! I haven't swatched any glitters yet so I thought it would be interesting to do a coat-by-coat review. And what better way than with one of my favourite glitter polishes..enjoy!

Katy Perry's Last Friday Night by OPI

Coat # 1:

A little too sheer to just wear on its own I think but it's great over a colour for a little sparkle (I'll show you a couple of my favourite combos at the end).

Coat # 2

Not too different from one coat, the glitter has just been able to spread itself out more evenly now for more coverage. I would probably use two coats over a colour if I wanted to add a little glitter (...examples also to come at the end!)

Coat # 3

Now you can start to really see the real colour of the polish come through. It's still so sheer that you can still see my nail through it, though so I doubt I'd wear it alone like this. Still needs more coats!

Coat # 4

Such a beautiful blue colour. Now you can see it properly, I'd say it's a light blue wash with a definite lilac tone through it. You can now barely see my nail through the glitter.

Coat # 5

I had to stop here because it was getting way too thick. This is the problem with a lot of glitters (especially with such a sheer wash backing colour) that by the stage you actually get full coverage and the polish looks like the colour you see in the bottle, the layers are so thick! Because I did this all at once I got a little impatient waiting for it to dry. I imagine it would work a little better given more time and a little more patience on my behalf but overall very impressed with this polish!

I also have the other glitter from Katy Perry's collection, Teenage Dream which is very similar but in pink. But that will have to be another day's project!

Here's the rest of the polishes from the range: Black shatter was released with the range

...Now...as promised, a few swatches with backing base colours :-)

Last Friday Night over Dating a Royal. Dating a royal is hands down one of my favourite polishes I own. So much so that it's almost run out! :-( But I think the glitter looks great over it! Any blue would look good underneath as well I think but I like that Dating a Royal is a deep - almost electric - blue so the glitter lightens it up a bit to bring out that colour.

Last Friday Night over Black Onyx. How awesome is this combination?! The blue glitter stands out so much over the black I love it. Reminds me of stars at night or something. I don't think black really suits me on its own because I'm so pale but with the glitter its a little softer and more fun!

Time for me to go to work - a great weekend to you all!
