Happy Australia Day!

So I lied the other day...I really did intend to post again last week but I had my head in the books studying for a spanish test :(

Anyway, since then it has been AUSTRALIA DAY! I hope every had an amazing day like I did!

Here are some swatches of some art I tried out for the day

Australian Flag Nail Art

Dating a Royal. The perfect blue for this design! I also used Alpine Snow (white) and Colour so hot it Berns (red). I used my new nail art brushes and hand painted the stars and union jack.

Vegemite Nail Art

It wouldn't be Australia Day without a mention of one of our icons...Vegemite!

First I started with my base colour - black (I don't own a blackish brown like the real colour of vegemite so this was the closest I could do)

Black Onyx. Although it doesn't really suit my pale skin tone, this black is awesome. The formula is really thin and smooth so it applies really well. Quite sheer with one coat but perfectly opaque with two - I love when that happens! This is the best black polish!!! It dries really quickly and doesn't yellow your nails when you remove it - highly recommend.

I then added the yellow label:

OPI Need Sunglasses. My one and only OPI yellow (so far) and I love it! I actually hadn't worn this before so it was exciting to use it for the first time. I love it so much I'm going to have to swatch it soon so you can have a look. Obviously it turns out a little different here over the black but I did about 3 coats here until the black behind was less visible - you can probably see it looks quite thick!

I then painted on the red diamonds for the labels using OPI Colour so Hot it Berns (Swiss Collection) and then attempted to write vegemite on top with OPI Alpine Snow.

As you can see my nails are too small to write the full word across all nails - could only manage to fit it on my thumb but they still turned out pretty cute!
