Day 17 - Tiger Print Nail Art

Happy Friday Everyone! Wow, how quickly has this week gone?! And for most here in Australia it's a long weekend. Unfortunately for me I have to go to uni on Monday because apparently we don't get a holiday :( but I'm looking forward to the weekend nonetheless. Today I have Tiger Print nail art for you! So here's how it turned out:

Quite a simple design and turned out really cute! I'm really keen to try out some more animal prints now :)

First I started with 3 coats of OPI's Y'all Come Back Ya Hear:

Another jelly/sorbet! A bright, medium orange with, of course, high gloss finish as you can see from the pictures! Such a gorgeous colour and finish. The only problem is that, as I said yesterday, sorbets/jellies take aaaaaaages to dry because of the texture of the formula so you really need a lot of time and patience for this one. And probably best to use a rapid drying top coat as well. But I think it's worth the time and effort because it just comes out so lovely!

Anyway, I then used a fine nail art brush to paint on the 'stripes' of the tiger print, using Black Onyx. I had to do a couple of coats because the tips of the stripes are so fine so I used a very small amount of polish on the brush. I then finished with RapiDry top coat.

Here's some swatches:

Hope you have a great weekend - I'll see you tomorrow for some more nail art (that is, if time permits!)

Day 16 - Happy International Women's Day!

Happy International Women's Day everyone! I hope you get the opportunity to spend some time with an important woman in your life and tell her how much she means to you! I just had a lovely dinner with my mum and am looking forward to sitting down and watching Packed to the Rafters (her choice...not quite mine!) after I've done this post.

So here we go...

OPI Houston We Have A Purple

A magenta jelly/sorbet with high high gloss finish! Such a gorgeous colour. Being a jelly, it is super sheer with one coat so you really need to do quite a few (I think this is 5 here!). It also takes a really long time to dry, and even when it does it stays quite 'tacky' on the surface so unless you can put aside an entire few hours, I'd suggest a rapid dry top coat. But definitely worth all of the effort anyway, I just love this colour and the formula is divine. It's from the 2011Texas Collection, another great range by OPI!

A few more photos (just because):

I thought I'd also post some swatches of OPI's, Pink Shatter: Pink of Hearts, the limited edition shatter that was released last year in support of Breast Cancer Research. I'm not sure if you saw it back then, but I swatched this for one of my very first posts!!

Just thought I would revisit it for today as it is an important day to acknowledge all women across the world and breast cancer is something that affects so many of these women. I'd also like to give a shout out to the Otis Foundation in Bendigo who provide cost-free retreats for men and women living with breast cancer. They also deserve a massive congratulations on the $20,000 raised almost 2 weeks ago with the support of Grill'd Bendigo who generously donated $5 from each burger sold over the weekend. Here's an article about it (my sister is second from the right in the photo).

I hope you all are having/have had a lovely day and have taken a moment to acknowledge the influential women in your life. I'll leave you with one of my favourite quotes:

"If a woman is sufficiently ambitious, determined and gifted, there is practically nothing she can't do" - Helen Lawrenson

:) see you tomorrow!
