Day 25 - Happy St. Patrick's Day!!

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY EVERYONE!!

As promised, I have some nail art in store today. I had so much fun preparing this post! There's something about St. Patrick's Day that, although I don't ever really celebrate it, I am always so intrigued and excited by all of the costumes and most importantly GREEN! And today I have not one, but TWO nail art designs for you! Originally I was just going to swatch some cute nail tattoo decals that I bought off ebay a couple of weeks ago but I got so excited with all the design options that I thought I would try out some of my own freehand, take a look:

St. Patrick's Day Shamrock Nail Art Design

Here I used OPI Mermaid's Tears from the Pirates of the Caribbean Collection with dark green clovers over the top in OPI Jade Is The New Black. I had Mermaid's Tears on because I was going to swatch and review it for later in the week but I thought....well it's St. Patrick's Day...I have to use it as a base colour while I have it on for the occasion seeing as it is one of my only greens. I love how this turned out and it was actually quite straight forward. Basically what I did was use my dotting tools to make 8 dots (grouped in 2s) in an octagonal shape. I then used a fine nail art brush to join the dots together in the centre with a little more polish to form the shamrock shapes. I then finished with some metallic nail art balls for my thumb:

St.Patrick's Day Nail Art Tattoo Decals

I saw these on eBay and had to have them..so cute! Very simple to use (it gets easier every time you work with these tattoos but these one in particular were really easy to use). I did a base of white using OPI Alpine Snow and then added the tattoos on top. Quite a simple process, just the same as temporary tattoos for the body - cut them to shape, soak them in water for 10 seconds and then carefully slide the back paper off and place in the centre of the nail and voilà!

I also wanted to say a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to one of my very best friends, Peta-Pearl who turns 21 today!! Love you lots! Tonight is her 21st party - the theme is dressy with a touch of 'vintage' so I'm planning on doing another cute nail art design, perhaps with some lace hmmmm so stay tuned for tomorrow's post!

Hope everyone has a fantastic day! See you tomorrow :)

Day 24 - Paw prints nail art!

Happy Friday everyone! After a long day at work I decided to stay in tonight because I've been feeling sick all day :( ...the good news is that I can finally get some nail art done! Today I've retried a cute design that I had a go at a couple of months ago and never got to post....paw prints. Here's the finished product:

OPI French Quarter For Your Thoughts

A light/medium dusty grey. Such an interesting colour - not many like this one around! The only other one I've tried that I can think of off the top of my head is Grey Matter by Rimmel. It does show up quite differently in different lights but it's great as a base colour for art because it's such a neutral shade, especially behind the black and white that I've used for the paw prints.

Paw Print Nail Art

Here I used my usual nail art combo: Black Onyx and Alpine Snow...I really should try some other colours but these work so well! I used a medium tipped dotting tool for the "palms" of the paws to do 3 clumped dots and then my smallest tipped tool to do the dots of the "fingers" (I'm not quite sure of the correct terminology for animal paws! haha). I also did a bone as a feature nail using a medium tipped dotting tool and a thin brush for the middle of the bone. A simple and cute design for a rainy Friday night!

Have a great evening everyone :) See you tomorrow
